Boosting FPS and getting rid of warps
Boosting FPS and getting rid of warps
2020-11-25Hi,
If you have a new computer and ET still stutters, you can try running ET on a single core only, because ET was originally released as a single-core application.
In short, below is a detailed guide on how to boost FPS and get rid of warps:
The program needs .NET Framework 4.0 to run
1. Download the program written by a friend of mine (you don't actually need any program, more on that later)
http://www.speedy...ity1.4.exe
2. Save it in the main ET folder, e.g. C:/Program Files/Enemy Territory
3. On Windows 7, right-click it and run it as administrator (this is needed to use X cores)
4. I suggest starting with ET on a single core (1 core); if something is still wrong, increase it as far as possible (max 4)
5. If you saved the program in the ET folder, click Launch ET; if not, choose Browse and point it to the game.
I also recommend adding the command /r_primitives 2 to your cfg - it noticeably increases FPS on almost every PC.
PS. If you don't feel like downloading the program, you can do it by hand.
1. Run ET as administrator (Windows 7 only)
2. Minimize ET and open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)
3. Click Show processes from all users (Windows 7 only)
4. Find the process called ET.exe, right-click it and choose Set affinity
5. As before, pick a single core first and check whether it helps.
With a dual-core CPU it is best to pick core no. 2 - cores are counted from 0 here, so select 1. With a quad-core CPU pick core 2 or 3 - in any case the last one from the bottom.
Cheers
