Playing in fullscreen

Most people have trouble with the picture in fullscreen. For some, the game shows up in a small square; for others it looks similar but with black bars on the sides. In this guide you'll learn how to fix it. Just type the following commands into your config or into the console (~):

r_mode -1

r_customwidth [your monitor width in px, e.g. 1680]

r_customheight [your monitor height in px, e.g. 1050]

r_fullscreen 1

r_customaspect 1

vid_restart
While these settings load, an OpenGL problem may show up. In that case install the drivers for your graphics card. You can also follow the guide posted here. If the problem persists, lower the resolution with these commands:

r_customwidth

r_customheight
How to get rid of black bars on the sides of the screen:

Follow the video below. Note that this option does not raise the resolution to the maximum - if you want a higher resolution, use the option above; the option below removes the black bars on the sides.
