How to make a fragmovie?

2020-11-25

Welcome - in this guide I'll teach you how to make a fragmovie. :]

As usual, start with the basics. Download these programs:

ET Moviemakers Pack v0.9
Virtual Dub v1.10.4
meGui 2418
Sony Vegas Pro

Install the downloaded programs. I suggest copying all shortcuts into one folder - it will be easier to find them later.

First pass.

1. Pick a movie config from the Moviemaker pack and copy it into the etmain folder.
2. Copy the demo containing the moment you want in your fragmovie into the nitmod/demos folder inside the Moviemaker pack.
3. We are in the Settings folder:

- Open the Image folder
- Pick one config (90fps; 200fps)
- Copy it into the folder where et.exe and image.exe are.
- Rename the copied file to image.cfg

4. Now we need NOTEPAD

- Paste these 3 lines into it:

# generated by image
"input.path" "C:\Program Files\ET MOVIEMAKERS PACK\ET\ET.exe"
"output.path" "C:\Program Files\ET MOVIEMAKERS PACK\Screeshots_TGA"

Save the file as image.ini in the folder where image.exe, image.cfg and et.exe are.

5. The next step is to open image.exe

But note: before opening it, create an extra cfg file containing:

bind i cl_avidemo 90 (or 200)
bind o cl_avidemo 0

Save it as stop.cfg and put it in etmain. Now open image.exe, type exec stop.cfg in the console, choose the nitmod mod and open your recorded demo. Start recording the scenes you want in your fragmovie with the i key and stop with the o key.

6. The next step is joining the screenshots. "output.path" "C:\Program Files\ET MOVIEMAKERS PACK\Screeshots_TGA"

7. Open VirtualDub.

- Go to the folder with the screenshots and open the first one in VD.
- Click Video > Filters > Add, choose Resize, set the resolution to 1280x720 and Aspect Ratio to disabled.
- Then Video > Frame Rate 90 and 91.
- Then File > Save as .avi

SONY VEGAS.
If you added effects in this program, you now need to render the video (sound and picture separately).

To do that, click:

File > Render As [choose MP3 format and save]
File > Render As [choose AVI format and save]

Below there is a template window.
Choose the default template, click Custom and set everything as shown in the pictures:

Encoding in meGUI
Start the program.
To add the video to the program you need to write a script. Open Notepad and paste these lines:
AVISource("C:\Program Files\ET MOVIEMAKERS PACK\Untitled.avi")
Crop(0,0,-0,-0)
ConvertToYV12()

In the brackets after AVISource put the path to your video, then save the script as avi.avs.

In the program click File > Open and choose the file you just created. If everything is fine, the video will be added.

Below, add the sound rendered in SONY VEGAS. Now open the screenshot located in the Moviemakers pack:

pack/settings/megui

Set the codec as shown in the pictures.

Then click Enqueue under the video and Enqueue under the audio.

Now go to the Queue tab and press Start for JOB1. Wait for the process to finish.

Now you can click Start for JOB4.

Then Tools > Muxer > MP4 Muxer,

video input: choose the video encoded in meGUI,
audio input: the audio encoded in meGUI.

Go to Queue and press Start for JOB5.

Done. Enjoy watching :)
