Writing binds

What are binds?
Binds are a set of commands (or a single command) assigned to a chosen key.

Where to put them and how to run them?
You place binds just like your own config. You can put all binds in autoexec.cfg, or create a separate file with the .cfg extension and add this line to autoexec:

exec bindname.cfg

Do the same with the rest of your binds. Put all the binds you create in the etmain folder
(path: \Program Files\Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory\etmain)

Creating binds

Five main commands are used to create a bind.
They are:
bind

set - programs a command and stores it so it can be reused in another part of the bind. For example, you can store a line that changes the crosshair size and color.
It would look like this:

Set crosshair cg_crosshairSize 30; cg_crosshairColor red

Certain values (here the color and the size) are always assigned to a given parameter (here crosshair).

vstr - reads previously stored parameters (set)

+vstr works similarly to vstr, but while the bound key is held down, +vstr plays one parameter, and when it is released, it returns another value.
Just like vstr, +vstr goes in front of the parameter. Here, however, there are two parameters (before and after pressing the key).
As an example, a bind that changes the field of view:

Bind x +vstr 90 120
Set 90 cg_fov 80
Set 120 cg_fov 120

While you hold the key, the field of view is 90. When you release it, it goes back to 120 degrees.
You can get an effect similar to +vstr with vstr.
Going back to the example:

Bind x vstr fov
Set fov vstr fov90
Set fov90 cg_fov 90; set fov vstr fov120
Set fov120 cg_fov 120; set fov vstr fov90

Here, however, the field of view changes from 120 to 90 when you press the key and doesn't change back until you press the same key (here x) again.

What can you use to create binds?

To be honest, almost all the cvars we used to create the config. We leave out only the commands that require a restart after being changed. For binds you can use all movement commands, chat commands and voice chat commands.

Chat commands

To make your own lines show up in the chat without typing them, use the say command.
Example:

Capital letters in binds:
1st way: install the 2.60b patch; if you don't want to, read on.
2nd way: wait 5;vsay hi Hello
3rd way:
bind X vstr hi

Instead of hi after vstr and set you can use a different name. The rest is described above.

Player nick shown when you kill someone (and other shortcuts):
[d] - shows the player who last killed you
[k] - shows the player you last killed
[p] - shows the player currently under your crosshair (doesn't work when aiming at an enemy, but works when spectating)
[n] - shows your nick
[w] - shows the weapon you are currently holding
[t] - shows the ammo of the weapon you are currently holding
[s] - shows your current health
[h] - shows the player who last healed you (with health packs it also works on enemies!)
[a] - shows the player who last gave you ammo
[l] - shows your current location
Note! Put ^w in front of e.g. [d] - if someone has the default color (white), it will show up green. Example:
bind j greatshot ^QWhat a shot on me, ^w[d].

Multibind:
A bind that lets you draw a picture in ET.
You already know the basic commands from above, except wait.
For example: wait25 (25 is the delay before the next line of text appears; mostly used on servers with antiflood disabled)

Example multibind:
wait10;say " ^y(\__/) "
wait10;say " ^y(+'.'+) "
wait10;say " ^y(")_(") "

It will work on the Polskie Świry server.
If a line gets cut, increase the wait.
That's about everything on binds :)

Polskie Świry voice chat binds:
The clips are quotes in Polish (mostly from Polish films and cabaret), so their names are left in Polish - that's exactly what you will hear in the game. Some of them contain strong language.
